Grading
BGS (Beckett)
Also called: Beckett, BGS
BGS (Beckett Grading Services) grades on a 1 to 10 scale with half points and four subgrades. A BGS 9.5 is Gem Mint, and a BGS 10 with four perfect subgrades earns the Black Label.
Beckett is known for detail: alongside the overall grade it prints subgrades for centering, corners, edges, and surface, and it uses half-point increments (so 9.5 exists). A BGS 9.5 is Gem Mint and a BGS 10 is Pristine.
The rare Black Label is a BGS 10 with all four subgrades also graded 10.
Why it matters: the subgrades help buyers see exactly why a card got its grade, and Beckett is especially popular for modern, high-end cards, where a strong 9.5 or a Black Label 10 can carry a big premium.
