Patch card

A patch card is a memorabilia card with a multi-color piece of a jersey, such as a logo, stripe, or nameplate letter, rather than a plain single-color swatch. Patches are rarer and more valuable.

Where a basic relic holds a one-color jersey swatch, a patch holds a more desirable multi-color section, a team logo, a stripe, a seam, or part of a letter from the nameplate. The more distinctive and colorful the piece, the more collectors want it.

Patches are often serial numbered to low quantities and are a centerpiece of premium products.

Why it matters: the patch itself drives the price. A clean logo or letter patch, particularly on a rookie patch auto, can be worth far more than a plain swatch of the same player.
