Rookie Patch Auto (RPA)

Also called: RPA

A Rookie Patch Auto, or RPA, is a rookie card that combines a memorabilia patch and an on-card autograph. RPAs are among the most chased and valuable modern cards.

An RPA brings together three things collectors love on one rookie card: the player's rookie card status, a memorabilia patch, and an autograph. The best are on-card and serial numbered low.

Flagship high-end products built around RPAs, such as National Treasures, headline many releases.

Why it matters: an RPA of a breakout rookie can become the signature card of that player's class and reach five or six figures for the rarest copies, making it one of the hobby's true grails.
