Hobby box
Also called: retail, blaster
A hobby box is a sealed box sold through card shops and hobby distributors, usually with better odds and guaranteed hits than retail. Retail and blaster boxes are the cheaper store versions.
Products come in formats aimed at different buyers. A hobby box is sold through the hobby channel (local card shops and online hobby sellers) and typically guarantees a set number of autographs or memorabilia hits. Retail boxes and smaller blaster boxes are sold at big-box stores at lower prices with weaker odds, and often exclusive parallels of their own.
A sealed case holds multiple hobby boxes.
Why it matters: the format changes your odds and your cost per hit. Hobby boxes cost more but carry the better chases, which is why breaks usually open hobby product.
